How to Play and Rules of Deals Rummy

Deals rummy in Quiz Rummy is very easy to play and follows the basic rummy rules. Here are the things to keep in mind:

  • Each player gets a pre-decided number of points at the start of each game. The number of points varies depending on the sub-variant that you choose.
  • The winner of a deal gets rewarded with certain points. The number of points depends on the ungrouped cards of the opponents.
  • At the end of the pre-decided number of deals, the player with the most number of points wins the game.

How is the Score Calculated in Deals Rummy

Scoring in deals rummy works like any other rummy game. The number of points you lose will be equal to the number of ungrouped cards you have when your opponent makes a valid declaration. Similarly, if you make a valid declaration, the number of points you win a deal will be equal to the ungrouped cards of your opponent. Let’s understand this with an example:

Game type: 6-player 3-deals

Players: A, B, C, D, E, F

Starting points stack: 240

Deals Player A Player B Player C Player D Player E Player F
Deal 1 Winner 20 points 10 points 20 points 40 points 20 points
Deal 2 30 points Winner 10 points 15 points 25 points 30 points
Deal 3 5 points 25 points Winner 15 points 20 points 20 points

Here is the point calculation for the above game:

Deals A (240) B (240) C (240) D (240) E (240) F (240)
Deal 1 +110 -20 -10 -20 -40 -20
Deal 2 -30 +110 -10 -15 -25 -30
Deal 3 -5 -25 +85 -15 -20 -20

At the end of the 3 deals, their points stack will be as follows

Points Player A Player B Player C Player D Player E Player F
Point stack after 3 deals 315 310 305 190 155 170

As you can see, the winner of this game at the end of 3 deals will be A, since it has the most points.

How Does the Drop Option Work in Deals Rummy

In Deals rummy, the penalty points for dropping in a game vary depending on the fact whether it’s a first drop or a mid-drop. First-drop is when you drop from the game on your first turn while mid-drop is when you drop from the game after your first turn.

Format First Drop Mid Drop
2-player 1-deal Not allowed Not allowed
2-player 2-deals 20 points 40 points
6-player 3-deals 20 points 40 points

Since a 2-player 1-deal game involves only one deal, dropping from it would mean that you will lose the game. This is why you are not allowed to drop in this format.

Penalty for Missing Moves

When you don’t take any action on your turn, it is known as a missed move. On Quiz Rummy, if you miss a certain number of moves consecutively, you are automatically dropped from the game. You can choose to select up to 3 missed consecutive moves before you get dropped from a game on Quiz Rummy.

If you get dropped after missing moves, you get a 40-point penalty, which is equivalent to a mid-drop. However, if the missed move occurs on your first turn and you have chosen to get dropped after 1 missed move, you will be penalised with 20 points, which is equivalent to a first-drop.

How are Points Allocated at the Beginning of the Game

At the beginning of the game, each player is allocated a fixed number of points on Quiz Rummy. These points vary depending on the variant you are playing.

Game 2-player 1-deal 2-player 2-deals 6-player 3-deals
Points allocation 80 points each 160 points each 240 points each

The number of points you get at the start is equal to the maximum number of points you can lose in that game.

How are Points Settled at the End of the Game

On Quiz Rummy, at the end of each deal in a Deals rummy game, the winner gets points depending on the ungrouped cards of the opponents.

At the end of the pre-decided number of deals, the player with the most points wins the game.
